Last December, The Agence Française de Développement disbursed a 4 million euros grant to the MedFund as the first capital contribution to the endowment fund.
AFD thus joins the GEF, the FFEM, the Government of Monaco and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation within the MedFund’s coalition of donors.
This financing will be capitalized according to a responsible investment policy and the profits will be used to provide sustainable support to MPA managers in various Mediterranean countries.
This contribution will also promote actions that strenghthen the adaptation of ecosystems and local communities regarding the effects of climate change.
