To date, The MedFund has committed more than €7 million in support of 22 marine protected areas in 8 Mediterranean countries.
As we look ahead to 2030, our ambition is clear ➡️ 40 Mediterranean MPAs granted by The MedFund across 10 countries, including Egypt, by 2030.
🇪🇬 A Spotlight on Egypt:
Taking the opportunity of COP24 in Cairo promising discussions were held with the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), regarding the country’s growing strategy for the creation and management of MPAs and OECMs along its Mediterranean coast. Egypt’s focus on marine conservation, from expanding its protected area network in the Mediterranean to exploring governance models for effective implementation and management, offers inspiring opportunities for collaboration.
