The Seaquarium Institut Marin du Grau du Roi and The MedFund share the same interest in protecting the Mediterranean and the desire to promote the development of Mediterranean MPAs.
On the occasion of Monaco Ocean Week 2022, The MedFund has signed a 5-year partnership agreement with the Seaquarium, which is committed to promoting the Fund’s work and donating part of the entrance fee for each visitor to benefit the Mediterranean marine protected areas.
The Seaquarium thus joins a coalition of pioneering aquariums and zoos that are committed to the protection of the Mediterranean marine environment alongside The MedFund.
This partnership was made possible thanks to the international network of the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, which has been federating a network of aquariums in support of The MedFund since 2018 and raising awareness about the role played by marine protected areas in protecting marine ecosystems.
This new financial support will allow MedFund to increase its contribution to the financing of essential activities for the management of these natural areas in order to preserve marine ecosystems and the populations that depend on them.
