This partnership represents a significant achievement in marine conservation for Montenegro and the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p>Covering respectively 10km\u00b2 and 27km\u00b2, Platamuni and Katic MPAs encompass diverse marine habitats, including coralligenous, seagrass meadows, and important breeding grounds for various marine species. The collaboration between the MedFund and the Public enterprise for coastal zone management aims to ensure effective management, promote local governance of those areas, enhance awareness and surveillance, monitor ecological benefits and support sustainable use of these precious marine ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>For a 5 years period, The MedFund will provide a financial support of USD 286.200 for each MPA, a financial assistance, technical expertise and capacity building to enable the implementation of management plans and enhance the long-term sustainability of the MPAs.
