Prince Albert II of Monaco.<br \/>\nThe MedFund visited the Alonissos \u2013 Northern Sporades National Marine Park to meet with the Greek manager of this large marine protected area, the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (N.E.C.C.A.).<br \/>\nRegular scientific monitoring, enhanced surveillance, strong involvement of local stakeholders, and user awareness activities \u2014 all supported by The MedFund \u2014 contribute to strengthening the effective management of these 2,300 km\u00b2 of protected areas that host the last remaining Mediterranean monk seals.<br \/>\nCongratulations to the N.E.C.C.A. teams for their work, and thank you to the people of Alonissos for their warm welcome and commitment. We stand with you!<\/p>\n<p>The MedFund supports these conservation efforts through its dedicated funding window for highly protected areas, with the support of the MAVA Foundation and the PBOL initiative. Since 2022, The MedFund has been financing 40% of the highly protected zones in the Mediterranean through this dedicated mechanism, providing concrete support to the management of the region\u2019s most emblematic MPAs.
